Belthangady (Dakshina Kannada) – In Peradi village of Belthangady taluka of Karnataka, fanatic Muslims have accused men of insulting the Islamic sect, Prophet Mohammad and the Azaan by dressing up in Muslim attire during a folk festival called Kattun. It is alleged that between 11 pm and 12 am on April 14, men dressed up in the Kattun folk tradition and allegedly mocked Islam. Mohammed Rafiq, a resident of Padangadi village, has also alleged in a complaint filed with the Police that this incident was circulated on social media with the aim of creating a feeling of enmity between Hindus and Muslims. Based on this complaint, the police have registered a case against 17 Hindus at the Venuru police station. The Police are investigating the matter further.
