More than a lakh cards to be launched in Mumbai within a month

Mumbai – A single card ‘Mumbai 1’ can be used for travelling by Metro, Monorail, local trains and BEST buses. The card will be launched within a month in Mumbai, informed Union Railway Minister Mr Ashwini Vaishnaw during a press conference held on 11.04.2025. Central Railway will invest about Rs 1738.04 billion for bullet trains and repairs of railway stations in Maharashtra, he added. Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis was present with him.
Mr Ashwini Vaishanw stated further –
1.Maharashtra has been allocated Rs 23,778 crore in the current budget which includes Rs 17,000 crore for Mumbai. There is a plan to manufacture 238 air-conditioned new trains for Mumbai.
2.Presently, 3,500 rounds are taken on the Central and Western Railway routes wherein 80 lakh people commute daily. Basic facilities provided by the railway are being increased to raise the number of railway commuters.
3.The number of tracks on different routes will also be increased such as Borivali – Virar – 6 tracks; Virar – Dahanu – 3-4 tracks; Kalyan -Asangaon – 4 tracks, etc. The process of land acquisition is underway for a few tracks.
4.These tracks will facilitate 85 lakhs more commuters to travel. The present time gap between starting of two trains is 1.80 seconds which will be reduced by 30%. It will improve local trains’ efficiency by 30%.
5.The design of the train is also being altered to make the train journey more comfortable. It includes change in the process of closing doors of trains; provision for better circulation of oxygen in railway coaches, etc.
6.There will also be a provision to maintain the time-table during monsoon.
‘Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Circuit Train’ will be launched – CM FadanvisCM Fadanvis informed on the occasion that a beautiful iconic ‘Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Circuit Train’ will be launched. It will be operated for ten days’ tours for visiting all places and forts associated with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and other cultural tourist places in the State. |
