Lucknow (Uttar Pradesh) – The Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh has completed 8 years in office. During this time, the government’s strict measures have led to a remarkable 85% reduction in major crimes across the state compared to 2016.
1. Compared to 2016, incidents of robbery have decreased by 85%, while murders have dropped by 41%. The government also reported a significant decline in dowry-related deaths.
2. In the last 8 years, 222 criminals have been killed in various police encounters, and 8,118 criminals have been injured. On several occasions, criminals, fearing death in encounters, have voluntarily surrendered to the police.
3. Around 80,000 criminals have been incarcerated. More than 900 individuals have faced action under the National Security Act (NSA).
4. The state’s criminal underworld had amassed assets worth hundreds of crores from illegal activities. The government has seized assets worth over 4,000 crores from these criminal groups.

5. Under the Gangster Act, assets worth 14,000 crores have been confiscated. Over 1,400 criminals associated with 68 mafia gangs have been charged.
6. The government has also made significant recruitment efforts within the police force. In 2017, Uttar Pradesh faced a shortage of over 200,000 police officers. Despite two large-scale recruitments, there remains a need for 50,000 more officers. In the coming days, the government will recruit 28,000 additional officers.
7. Alongside police recruitment, 126 new police stations have been established, and 86 new police checkpoints have been set up across the state.
