Students bombarded questions at Mamata Banerjee over Bengal’s violence and women’s insecurity

London – During a speech at the renowned Oxford University’s Kellogg College, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee faced strong opposition from students. Protestors questioned Mamata Banerjee about violence in Bengal, the rape incident at RG Kar Medical College, and the atrocities against women in Sendeshkhali. The students raised slogans of “Mamata Banerjee, Go back!” In response, Mamata Banerjee said, “Do not do politics here, this is not a platform for politics. Come to my state and do politics with me.”

1. Due to the uproar caused by the protestors, Mamata Banerjee had to stop her speech. The Students Federation of India (SFI UK) took responsibility for this protest, stating that it was against Mamata Banerjee’s false claims.

2. The BJP has stated that Bengalis living abroad also wish to remove Mamata Banerjee from the position of Chief Minister, as she has destroyed Bengal’s legacy.

3. Regarding the question of whether India will become the world’s largest economy by 2060, Mamata Banerjee expressed disagreement and stated that she has a different opinion on the matter.

4. While broadcasting the video of Mamata Banerjee’s speech, BJP leader Amit Malviya remarked that Mamata Banerjee has a problem with India becoming the largest economy in the world. This is shameful. She has insulted the constitutional position abroad.
