
Ujjain (Madhya Pradesh) – On the fourth day of the International Mythological Film Festival, held as part of Vikramotsav 2025, leaders from South American and South African nations participated in the event.
During the festival, Sunaina P.R. Mohan, Second Secretary of the Embassy of Suriname, emphasized the significance of Indian culture and traditions. While explaining the origin of the name “Suriname,” she stated that it is derived from ‘Shri Ram’. When their ancestors migrated from India to Suriname, they referred to the land as the ‘Land of Shriram’, which eventually became known as Suriname.

She further expressed that upon arriving in Ujjain, she felt a deep sense of belonging, as if she were at home. She highlighted that India is the land of their ancestors, who migrated from India to settle in Suriname. Despite the migration, they have preserved Indian traditions, including language, attire, devotion, and religious practices. She urged Indian youth to never forget their cultural roots and traditions.
Delivering her speech in Hindi, Sunaina P.R. Mohan also presented a heartfelt devotional song dedicated to Deity Shiva.
