8 CPI(M) workers sentenced to life imprisonment after 20 years in the murder case of a BJP worker in Kerala

Kannur (Kerala) – The Principal Sessions Judge of Thalassery, K.T. Nisar Ahmed, has convicted nine Communist Party of India (Marxist) activists in the murder case of BJP worker Elambilayi Suraj. 8 CPI (M) activists have been sentenced to life imprisonment and fined ₹50,000 each, while another convict has been sentenced to three years of rigorous imprisonment and fined ₹25,000.

1. Those sentenced to life imprisonment include T.K. Rajesh, who is already serving a prison sentence for the 2012 T.P. Chandrasekaran murder case, and P.M. Manoraj, the brother of Kerala Chief Minister’s Media Secretary, P.M. Manoj. (This shows that CPI(M) workers commit murder like street criminals! – Editor)

2. On August 7th, 2005, at 8:40 a.m., a group of assailants arrived in a rickshaw in front of the Muzappilangad telephone exchange and killed Suraj. According to the government lawyer, Suraj was murdered due to political rivalry after he left the CPI(M) and joined the BJP.

3. 6 months before the incident, an attempt was made on Suraj’s life. Both his legs were injured, leaving him bedridden for 6 months.

4. A case was registered against 12 CPI(M) workers on charges of murder and conspiracy. 2 of the accused died after the incident.
