Namaz on the street despite having a 3-storeyed mosque : Traders from Sanand suburb in Gujarat file a complaint

Hindu leaders in Sanand submit memorandum to police

Ahmedabad (Gujarat) – Locals are facing problems as Muslims are offering namaz on the street at Sanand, a suburb of Ahmedabad in Gujarat. Though the mosque structure that exists here is a 3-storeyed building, Muslims are offering namaz on the street every Friday. Traders from Sanand, who are upset because of the roadblock, have complained to the administration in this regard. Locals have warned that they will protest if this problem is not resolved.

1. On March 8th , 2025, Hindu leaders in Sanand submitted a memorandum to the local administration and Police department, demanding their intervention in the matter. The traders say that this problem should be resolved immediately, as it is affecting their business.

2. There is a 3-storeyed mosque near Dak Chowk in Sanand, the road outside which is closed every Friday. During this time, namaz is offered on the road itself. Due to this, traders, pedestrians and common citizens have been facing problems. The statement said that there is ample space in the mosque. Despite this, namaz is being offered on the road to disturb the common people.

3. Former Sanand city BJP president Kamlesh Vyas said that namaz prayers have been offered on public roads for a long time. During this period, the road is closed for two hours. Due to this, communication stops and businesses there also come to a standstill. Kamlesh Vyas said, “We have no objection to offering prayers or any religion; but offering prayers by blocking public roads is causing trouble to the common people.”

Editorial Perspective

Why such a complaint has to be filed ? Don’t the administration and the Police see this themselves ?
