Ganga Water was Fit for Bathing during Maha Kumbha Parva : Central Pollution Control Board

  • Pollution Control Board (PCB) had earlier noted presence of bacteria found in human faeces in Ganga  water

  • New report presented after statistical analysis of samples of water collected from various locations

New Delhi – The Central Pollution Control Board has informed the National Green Tribunal that the water of rivers during Maha Kumbha Parva was fit for bathing. In its earlier report, the Central PCB had noted that the water of the rivers Ganga and Yamuna had bacteria found in human faeces on a large scale; but the new report says, the water of the ‘Sangam’ was suitable for bathing as per its statistical analysis.

In the new report dated 28.02.2025, the pollution control board has stated that a statistical analysis was required due to inconsistencies in the data, as water samples taken from the same locations on different dates and from different spots on the same day, varied significantly. As a result, findings did not accurately represent the overall water quality across the entire river stretch.

Dhruv Rathi, known to people as German shepherd on his YouTube channel made a video where it was shown that the water at the end of Maha Kumbha Parva was most toxic. Rathi also tried to ridicule Hindus, alleging that the water was not fit for bathing. The video was watched by 1.30 crore people in ten days.

Editorial Perspective

Anti-Hindus like Dhruv Rathi had capitalised on the earlier report of the Central PCB and tried to depict that the arrangements made at Maha Kumbha Parva were useless and not fit for citizens. Now, it wouldn’t be surprising if the whole anti-Hindu group alleges PCB as pro-BJP. Hindus should, however, take these people to task for tramping Hindus’ faith through their criticism.
