Israel to cut off power supply to Gaza soon

Tel Aviv – Israel has announced power cut to Gaza. Though it is not clear when will it be implemented. This decision can affect the Gaza drinking water plants adversely, because the only source of power for these plants is Israel. One week prior to this, Israel had stopped the supply of all the goods to more than 20 lakh people in Gaza. Israel wants to pressurise Hamas to extend the first phase of ceasefire, which ended last week. Making the matter more complicated, Hamas is pushing for the resumption of talks for second phase of ceasefire.

This is the first time that Israel has retreated for the buffer zone. Thousands of displaced Palestinians have returned to North Gaza, since the war broke out. Before the supply of goods was stopped by Israel hundreds of truck-load of aid was reaching Gaza. So far, more than 1,200 Israelis and more than 45,000 Palestinians have been killed in Hamas – Isarel war.
