Bengaluru – The Government has banned the sale of soap or shampoo on the banks of rivers at pilgrimage sites in the state. Forest Minister Ishwar Khandre has issued instructions in this regard and has directed devotees not to throw any objects into the river.
Khandre further said that as an eco-friendly measure, he had given instructions to ban the sale of soap and shampoo within 500 meters of rivers and lakes at pilgrimage sites. Devotees bathing in the river throw shampoo packets into the river, and the water is polluted due to soap. This poses a serious threat to the health of people and aquatic animals. Since the trend of throwing clothes at the pilgrimage site has been observed, strict rules will be implemented to prevent this, Khandre said.
