New Delhi – The Rouse Avenue Court here has convicted former MLA Kishore Samrite of Lanji in Balaghat district of Madhya Pradesh for threatening to blow up the Parliament building with dynamite. At the same time, he has been acquitted of the offence under the Explosives Act. Samrite will be sentenced soon. Kishore Samrite had threatened to blow up the Indian Parliament with dynamite by sending a threatening letter (with some demands) and suspicious items to the Rajya Sabha Secretary General in September 2022.
1. While giving the decision, the court said that the government party has succeeded in proving that the accused clearly expressed in the letter his intention to blow up the Indian Parliament with dynamite at 11 am on 30th September 2022, if the demands expressed in the letter were not met.
2. According to the chargesheet, the accused Samarite had a grievance against the current policies of the ruling government at the state and the centre. Hence, he submitted a letter to the government setting out his demands. This letter was typed by his part-time typist Dinesh Patel at his rented house in Bhopal. He then collected various documents from websites and other sources and attached them to the letter. He purchased a book of the Constitution of India and the National Flag to distribute to the relevant dignitaries like the President of India, the Speaker of the Lok Sabha, the Chief Justice of India, the Secretary General of the Rajya Sabha and the Lok Sabha etc.
