This will drive will go on till the 31st March 2025
New Delhi – The Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry has begun a drive of free intensive test for non-infectious disease from 20th February to 31st March. Men and women above the age of 30 will be tested. From that information about the number of people having these diseases or are in danger of testing positive to them will be known. Approximately 89 crore citizens will participate in this drive. The purpose of this drive is to identify the persons and decide the line of treatment for those having, Non-infectious diseases and the three types of cancer (mouth, breast, and uterus).
In the country the number of people having diabetes, blood pressure and cancer is increasing rapidly. According to the World Health Organisation and Indian Council of Medical Research 80% of deaths in the country is because of non-infectious diseases.
Methodology of the tests
1. A health card will be made for citizens above the age 30. On it there will be an ID or the Aadhaar Number. Medical officers will note a primary level medical report. In it will be noted – the disease, diagnosis report, and information about the treatment.
2. For the tests, citizens over the age of 30 can go to the nearest Health Centre. The tests will be free of charge. Asha Sevika and Arogya Sevaks will be going door to door for this as well.
3. Non-infectious disease means those disease which do not get transferred from one to another or through contact. The primary symptoms are not seen for a long time, it has a long gestation period. The treatment is life-long. These diseases are the main cause of untimely death.
