
Guwahati (Assam) – About 1.66 lakh illegal immigrants have been identified in Assam. Of these, more than 30,000 people have been deported from the state. State Government Minister Atul Bora gave this information in response to a question asked by Congress MLA Abdur Rahim Ahmed about applying the Assam Accord.
Minister Atul Bora said that as of December 31, 2024, 1.65 lakh illegal immigrants had been found in Assam. Of these, 32,870 people came between the years 1966 and 1971. 1.32 lakh people came after the year 1971.

Fencing work completed on 228 km of Bangladesh border
Minister Atul Bora also answered a separate question about fixing barbed wire fencing on the India-Bangladesh border. Out of 67.5 km of international border with Bangladesh, fencing work has been completed on 228 km. Of the total border, 171 km. is on land remaining 95 km. in water.
