Raipur (Chhattisgarh) – The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which defeated Congress in the assembly and Lok Sabha elections in Chhattisgarh, won the majority of civic body seats in the state, including all 10 mayoral positions. Apart from winning the mayoral post in all 10 municipal corporations, the BJP won the chairperson post in 35 municipal councils and 81 nagar panchayats, according to the result trends provided by state poll officials. Congress won 7, Aam Aadmi Party 1, and independents have been elected in 5 municipalities.
In the Raigad Municipal Corporation elections in the state, the winning candidate of BJP for the post of mayor is in the news and he defeated the Congress candidate by 34,000 votes. His name is Jivardhan Chouhan and he runs a tea shop. Chauhan gave the credit for the victory to the people of Raigad, along with the BJP Chief Minister of the state Vishnu Dev Sai and Finance Minister Om Prakash Choudhary. Both the leaders had personally come to Raigad and campaigned for Choudhary.
BJP Scheduled Caste Morcha Minister of State Jivardhan Chaudhary said that he was a tea seller in the past and will remain a tea seller now. He will stay in his shop and listen to the problems of the people and solve them. Chaudhary said on this occasion that he will do development work as the Mayor of Raigad.
