Prayagraj (Uttar Pradesh), 9.2.2025 – On 9th February, an overwhelming influx of devotees was witnessed at Maha Kumbha Kshetra, leading to severe traffic congestion spanning 10 to 15 kilometres on various city roads. Long queues of vehicles have formed on routes leading to Prayagraj from Lucknow, Varanasi, Kanpur, and Rewa. This situation has persisted for the past 4 to 5 days.
With vehicle entry into Maha Kumbha Kshetra restricted, many devotees are parking their vehicles on the roadsides and walking long distances to reach Sangam for their holy dip.

- Due to traffic congestion, several vehicle owners and devotees have been stranded for hours. The administration is struggling to ease the traffic situation.
- The crowd continues to grow daily, prompting the implementation of an emergency management plan at Prayagraj Railway Station to control the rush.
- A bus traveling from Prayagraj to Madhya Pradesh overturned after the driver lost control, injuring over 12 passengers. In response to the increasing crowd pressure, the administration has diverted traffic to alternative routes.
