Dehu (Pune District) – Shirish More Maharaj (aged 31), the 11thdescendant of Jagadguru Tukaram Maharaj, tragically ended his life by hanging himself at his residence. This heartbreaking incident has left Dehu village and the wider community in deep mourning.

Shirish Maharaj reportedly took this extreme step due to financial hardship, burdened by a debt of ₹32 lakh. According to the police, he left four letters before his death, which have been seized for further investigation. Preliminary findings suggest that the financial difficulties, coupled with the recent construction of a new house, may have contributed to his decision.

Adding to the tragedy, Shirish Maharaj’s wedding was scheduled for February 20th, making the loss even more poignant for his family and followers.

His funeral was conducted at the Vaikuntha Crematorium in Shrikshetra Dehugaon, with many members of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and dignitaries from religious, social, and cultural sectors coming to pay their last respects.

According to the police, Shirish More Maharaj, tragically ended his life at his residence by hanging himself with a ceiling fan hook. A note was discovered at the scene, which has been seized for investigation. Preliminary findings suggest that financial difficulties, including a debt of ₹32 lakh, may have led to this tragic decision. The police are also probing whether the financial burden increased significantly after the recent construction of a new house.

Shirish Maharaj was known as an ardent Hindutva thinker and who mostly preached about the learnings from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. He frequently addressed issues affecting Hindus, urging them to remain vigilant against injustices and atrocities. He boldly spoke out on topics like Love Jihad, Industrial Jihad, Land Jihad, Food Jihad, and religious conversions. His sharp rebuttals against efforts to misrepresent Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s legacy were widely appreciated in Hindutva circles.
