1. The petition was filed by Pandit Keshav Dev Gautam, an RTI (Right to Information) activist and National President of the organisation ‘Anti-Corruption Services’. The hearing for the petition will take place on 15 th February.
2.Pandit Keshav Dev Gautam said that there was once a large fort of Hindu rulers at this location. Some individuals fabricated documents and built Jama Masjid at this site. Under the Right to Information Act, we sought information from the Archaeological Department. The Archaeological Department has confirmed that earlier, at the site of the Jama Masjid, there was either a Buddhist Stupa, Jain Temple, or Shiva Temple. Based on this information, the petition has been filed.
Editorial PerspectiveIt is now becoming evident to the public that most of the old mosques in the country were once Hindu temples. Therefore, the Union Government should establish a new ministry to investigate the history of these mosques and bring the true information to the public ! |
