National and foreign Non-Government Organisations should not employ women : Taliban

Kabul (Afghanistan) – The Taliban Government in Afghanistan has issued an order for non-Government organisations (NGOs). They warned that national and foreign NGOs should not employ women, otherwise they would lose their registration. Taliban’s Ministry of Finance has issued this order. The order said that the decision was taken as the women were not following the Islamic hijab properly.

Earlier, the Taliban had issued a similar order. It banned having windows in houses through which women can be seen. It banned windows through which places frequented by women, such as neighbour’s wells, courtyards, kitchens, etc. can be seen. Where there were already windows, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid explained that owners of those houses were asked to build walls in front of the windows. He argued that such windows spread obscenity.
