
Itanagar (Arunachal Pradesh) – Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu announced in a programme that the Arunachal Pradesh Freedom of Religion Act, 1978 would be implemented to protect the region’s indigenous faith and culture. This law was passed in 1978 but was never implemented. The law was passed to prevent conversions by using force or bait and take effective action against such conversions.

Christian missionaries were quite active when this law was passed in Arunachal Pradesh and there was a huge conspiracy to convert people to Christianity; however, despite passing of this law, it has not been implemented for 47 years.
