Bangladeshi Hindus, Buddhists, and Christians in the United States made an appeal to Donald Trump
Washington DC (USA) – A group of Bangladeshi Americans, including Hindus, Buddhists, and Christians, has sent a petition to US President-elect Donald Trump. The petition urges Trump to assist in protecting the minority communities in Bangladesh. The group has also requested the release of Chinmoy Prabhu, who was arrested under charges of treason.
The petition suggests the implementation of an inclusive ‘Protection of Minorities Act’ in Bangladesh to protect the minority communities. It also calls for the establishment of safe zones, provision for separate constituencies for minorities, and the creation of strict laws against hate crimes and hate speech to protect religious and cultural heritage.
Editorial PerspectiveIf Trump were to protect Hindus in Bangladesh, it would bring joy to Indian Hindus on one hand, but on the other hand, they would feel ashamed for not being able to protect their own religious brethren. |
