Mumbai’s air quality index is ‘poor’ !

Air quality recorded as ‘bad’ to ‘very bad’

Mumbai – The air quality index in Mumbai city has reached 159. An index between 151 and 200 is considered ‘poor’. The air in some parts of the city is consistently recorded in the ‘poor’ to ‘very poor’ category. These include areas like Kurla, Kalina (Santa Cruz), Byculla, Worli, Mazgaon. In Borivali, ‘poor’ air has been recorded for about 10 to 15 days, and ‘very poor’ air for a few days in a row. The air index here has been recorded as 200 to 300, i.e. very poor, since November.

The amount of dust particles in Mumbai’s air has increased. The PM (Particulate Matter) in the atmosphere has been recorded at 2.5. PM i.e. Particulate Matter is a measure of air pollution. Pollutants are accumulating due to lack of wind in the city. Air pollution has also increased due to construction work and traffic jams.

Mumbai Municipal Corporation starts implementing special measures !

The Mumbai Municipal Corporation has started taking special measures to improve the air quality in Mumbai. The administration has issued notices to 28 construction sites that are not following the guidelines. 100 tankers have been deployed to wash the roads. Water is being sprayed in two sessions in 24 administrative divisions through ‘Truck Mounted Fog Mist Cannon’ plants. Water is being sprayed at places where construction, demolition and excavation work is going on. E-sweeper machines are being adopted for cleaning roads and footpaths.
