Jammu and Kashmir government approves a fund of ₹17 crore

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir) – The Jammu and Kashmir government has decided to initiate the restoration and preservation of 17 temples in South Kashmir. For this purpose, a fund of ₹17 crore has been approved under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. The restoration work will focus on temples damaged during the violence perpetrated by jihadi terrorists.
This initiative has brought joy to displaced Kashmiri Hindus, who have long demanded the preservation and reconstruction of their religious sites in the valley.

The approved amount will be utilized for temples located in Anantnag and Pulwama districts. Prominent temples to benefit from this scheme include:
- Mamleshwar Temple
- Shiv Bhagwati Temple
- Paparan Nag Temple
- Kheer Bhavani Temple
- Mata Ragnya Bhagwati Temple in Khiram
- Karkotak Nag Temple in Salia
- Gufkral Temple in Banmir village, Tral
- Shri Shideshwar Temple in Drangbal, Pampore
- Meel Temple
- Anant Temple
- Temples in Awantipora, Trichal, and Tahab, Pulwama
The Archaeology and Museums Department has granted administrative approval for the restoration plans based on recommendations from the respective district commissioners. Each temple will receive funds according to its structural requirements.
