Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) – India has lifted 25 crore people out of poverty in the last 10 years. We are providing free food grains to 80 crore people. 55 crore people are benefiting from free health insurance. We have given $20 billion (₹1.68 trillion) to farmers so far. India is contributing to global food security. Recently, we have provided assistance to countries like Malawi, Zambia, and Zimbabwe, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said at the G-20 Summit in Rio de Janeiro.
On the first day of the summit, Prime Minister Modi held bilateral meetings with world leaders. He discussed bilateral issues with French President Emmanuel Macron, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Portuguese Prime Minister Luís Montenegro, Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, and Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre. Prime Minister Modi also had an informal discussion with the outgoing U.S. President Joe Biden. After meeting with Prime Minister Modi, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said that discussions on a free trade agreement with India would resume next year.
