Mumbai – The Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) is using religion to wage  ‘vote jihad’. We have never seen such appeasement in elections in the history of the country, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said. The video of Maulana (Islamic scholar) Sajjad Nomani, spokesperson of the Muslim Personal Law Board, is being widely circulated. He was speaking against that background.

Fadnavis further said, “It is very regrettable that Sharad Pawar, Uddhav Thackeray and Congress are using religion to wage ‘vote jihad’. Sajjad Nomani and the Ulema Board had made 17 demands to the Mahavikas Aghadi. These demands are frightening. ‘10 per cent reservation for Muslims, withdrawal of all cases of Muslim accused in the riots in Maharashtra from 2012 to 2024 andimpose ban on the RSS’ “. Sharad Pawar group, Uddhav Thackeray group and Congress wrote to him, promising to accept the demands. If the Mahavikas Aghadi is working only to get the votes of minorities, then we will all have to unite against them. “If you think you can get elected on a handful of votes, majority votes will have to unite and rethink as well.”

Fadnavis further said, “An even worse video of Nomani has come out. Find the people from the Muslim community who voted for the BJP in the Lok Sabhaand cut off their food and water. Also, ostracise them socially,” he said. People who call themselves secular don’t say a word about it.  We will give a befitting reply to the Mahavikas Aghadi’s attempt of polarisation. The Congressis trying to divide people into castes and creeds. As the opposition does not have any issue for the election, they are only trying to win the election by indulging in casteism.”
