Andhra Pradesh Government announces new Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Board

Tirumala (Andhra Pradesh) – The Andhra Pradesh Government has announced the formation of a new Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam Board, appointing Bollineni Rajagopal (B.R.) Naidu as its Chairman. The new board includes members from various States viz. three from Karnataka, five from Telangana, two from Tamil Nadu, and one each from Gujarat and Maharashtra. Upon assuming his position, Chairman Naidu stated, “Priority will be given to implementing a voluntary retirement scheme for employees of other religions.” This suggests that non-Hindu employees currently working at the Tirupati temple may soon be replaced by Hindu employees.

Naidu expressed his gratitude for the appointment, considering it a significant phase in his life. He remarked that the past administrations had made many mistakes in the management of Devasthanam. For the past five years, he didn’t visit Tirumala even once, feeling it lacked purity, he said. He added that he used to visit Tirumala five to six times a year in the past. Naidu mentioned that he has discussed these issues with Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and clarified that his intent is solely to serve. He plans to discuss with the Government whether non-Hindu employees at Tirumala should be reassigned to other departments or offered voluntary retirement.
