Matter of Tamil Nadu Dy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin’s appeal to the people of Tamil Nadu to name their children in Tamil

Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin and BJP Union Minister L.K. Murugan

Chennai (Tamil Nadu) – BJP’s Union Minister L. Murugan has questioned whether the name ‘Udhayanidhi Stalin’ is a Tamil name, in response to Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin’s remarks. He also asked Stalin to name the members of his family in Tamil first and then appeal to others. Udhayanidhi had accused the Union Government of imposing Hindi on Tamil people and suggested that newlyweds in Tamil Nadu should name their children in pure Tamil. Murugan countered these comments by stating that there is no forced imposition of Hindi in Tamil Nadu, and those who wish to learn Hindi should have then freedom to do so without any hindrance. His remarks add to the ongoing debate between the DMK and BJP over language policies in Tamil Nadu.

Union Minister L. Murugan further criticized the DMK, stating that while the party speaks the language of social justice, it actually does the opposite. He pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is actively working to promote the Tamil language globally, while Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin is misleading the people with his claims about Hindi imposition.

What is the matter ?

Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin had said in a public meeting that Hindi language is being imposed on Tamil Nadu. In a programme aired on Doordarshan, the word ‘Dravidam’ was dropped. The word ‘Dravidam’ will not be removed from the Tamil language until there are DMK activists and Tamil lovers. Tamil Nadu will never accept the imposition of Hindi. So, parents should name their children in Tamil language.
