‘Swatantryaveer Savarkar was not against cow slaughter. He used to consume beef. His views were radical,’ such derogatory remarks were made by Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao. He also compared Savarkar with Mahatma Gandhi and Muhammad Ali Jinnah. Savarkar’s image has been tarnished due to his irresponsible and baseless remarks. Followers of Veer Savarkar have expressed their anger against this. Satyaki Savarkar’s notice to Gundu Rao has also sought clarifications on whether Gundu Rao’s remarks were personal or is it his party’s (i.e. Congress) official stand on Veer Savarkar.
