Dhaka (Bangladesh) – In connection with the upcoming Jharkhand Assembly elections, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had made a statement about expelling Bangladeshi infiltrators from the State. Bangladesh has now publicly condemned this. Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed that Shah’s statement is highly deplorable, and they have issued a protest note to India’s Deputy High Commissioner in Dhaka. The note mentions that, “Our Foreign Ministry has taken serious note of the statement and this statement is extremely hurtful and reckless. We urge the Indian Government to instruct its political leaders to refrain from making such objectionable and unacceptable remarks.” The note further mentions that such remarks undermine the spirit of mutual respect and understanding between two friendly countries.
If BJP is voted to power in the State, we will hang the infiltrators upside down : Union Home Minister
On 20thSeptember, Amit Shah made bold statements during public meetings in Giridih and Sahibganj, Jharkhand, addressing the rising problem of Bangladeshi infiltrators in the State. At the time, he referred to points mentioned in the affidavit filed by the Union Government in the Jharkhand High Court concerning the issue of Bangladeshi infiltrators. Shah said that, “If infiltration remains unchecked, illegal immigrants will become the majority in Jharkhand in the coming 25-30 years. Do you want your cities to be filled with infiltrators ? Can Hemant Soren stop it ? Will Congress stop this influx of illegal infiltration ? How can they do it ? These infiltrators happen to be the vote bank of the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and Congress. Change the Government once in Jharkhand. I want to assure you that the BJP will drive out Rohingyas and illegal Bangladeshis from Jharkhand, one by one. They are destroying our culture. They are encroaching upon our land. They are engaging in fake marriages with our daughters and killing opportunities for local employment. I would like to appeal to all of you to form a BJP Government in Jharkhand and we will straighten out every single Bangladeshi intruder by hanging them upside down.”
