1,400 girls sexually abused in Britain in the period of 16 years

London – In the city of Rotherham in Britain, 20 years old cases of sexual abuse of minor girls are currently ongoing. 42-year-old Waleed Ali has been sentenced to 5 years imprisonment for raping a 14-year-old girl 20 years ago.

1. According to the British investigative agencies, Waleed Ali committed brutal sexual assault on a 14-year-old girl in Rotherham in 2003-04.

2. After this horrific incident, the victim suppressed her trauma for almost 20 years. However, in the year 2021, she disclosed her sexual assault before the ‘Operation Stovewood’ team.

3. On 11th and 12th September, Sheffield Crown Court convicted 7 people under Operation Stovewood. 20 years ago, these accused had sexually abused girls aged 11 to 15.

‘Operation Stovewood’ to investigate atrocities against girls

In a 16-year period from 1997 to 2013, approximately 1,400 girls were sexually abused and trafficked in Rotherham, and some were murdered. An independent inquiry into these matters was conducted under the chairmanship of Alexis J. So far, 37 people have been found guilty in this case. Most accused are Muslims of Pakistani origin. The Police have launched ‘Operation Stovewood’ to investigate cases of sexual exploitation of minor girls.
