New Delhi – “Pending cases and backlog is a major challenge facing the judiciary. In cases like rape, Court decisions come after a generation. Therefore, common people feel that there is no sensitivity left in the judicial process. The practice of adjourning cases in the Courts should stop,” said President Draupadi Murmu at the National Conference of District Judges at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi. Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud and Union Minister of State for Law and Justice (Independent Charge) Arjun Ram Meghwal were also present. The flag and emblem of the Supreme Court was also unveiled by the President at the event.
It is sad that the criminals walk freely and the victims live in fear
President Murmu further said that it is the duty of all the judges to protect justice. The stress level of a common man goes up when he comes to a Court. By the time the justice is served, the smile has disappeared from their faces and in many cases their lives are over. It needs to be thought deeply. She further said that in many cases, many criminals continue to walk freely despite committing crimes, while victims live in fear, which is a sad part of our social life.
