New Delhi – ‘I have missed some important words while saying all this. I sincerely apologise. I did not want to talk about this community, but it was written in a state of anger. I have hurt the sentiments of many people by using the wrong language and words, for which I apologise to my colleagues, my family and that community’, film director Anurag Kashyap apologised for his offensive statement about Brahmins.
He assured himself that he would make sure that this would not recur. He would try to control anger. If he needed to express his opinion, he would use the right words. He hoped all would forgive him.

🤔 It's worth noting: Had similar remarks targeted SC/STs, the Atrocity Act would likely have led to immediate legal action.

What is the issue ?
Anurag Kashyap, while replying to a social media user regarding the controversy over the film ‘Phule’, had said, he would urinate on Brahmins; would he mind ? This led to criticism and a case has been registered against him in some places.
Editorial PerspectiveIf he had made offensive statements about Scheduled Castes and Tribes, Dalits, etc., a case would have been registered under the Atrocities Act and Kashyap would have been sent to jail; but since there is no such law regarding Brahmins, he is taking advantage of it ! |
