Such incidents happen because people respect Gomata – Chief Minister Saini

Commenting on this incident, Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini of the BJP Government in Haryana stated, “We have implemented strict laws for the protection of Gomata and there is no compromise on it. People respect Gomata, and their sentiments are closely tied to them. When the villagers are informed about beef consumption, they react. I want to say that such incidents should not happen and these incidents are unfortunate.”

Editorial Perspectives

  • It is indeed unfortunate that such killings take place. Considering the upcoming Haryana Assembly elections, it cannot be ruled out that such incidents might be politically motivated. However, it must be noted that the religious sentiments of Hindus have been trampled upon thousands of times, and nothing has been done about it on any level.
  • If someone were to say that this incident is a consequence of that, in which way would one logically respond to that ?
  • In 2015, Akhlaq was killed in Dadri for allegedly keeping beef. Following that, there were widespread claims of increasing intolerance in the country. It would not be surprising if a similar conspiracy is now being orchestrated to destabilise India.
