Mangaluru – Congress leader and the member of legislative council (MLC), Ivan D’Souza, made a controversial statement here that the Governor of Karnataka may face the same fate as the Prime Minister of Bangladesh. The Congress protested against the Governor at Lalbagh Chowk in Mangaluru as the Governor approved probe against the Chief Minister in land scam case. During this protest, Congress workers burnt tyres on the road and vandalised the buses to express their anger. They also blocked the road in front of the Mangaluru City Municipal Corporation.
Ivan D’Souza further said that if the Union Government does not recall the Governor, the agitation will be intensified. A Bangladesh-like situation may arise to remove the Governor.
Editorial PerspectiveIsn’t this indirect encouragement to violence ? But of course in Congress ruled Karnataka, no action will be taken against the Congress leaders. |
