Prime Minister Modi to visit Ukraine starting August 23rd amid heightened tensions
Moscow (Russia) – Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently on a tour of Eastern Europe. He is in Poland till 22nd, followed by a historic visit to Ukraine on August 23rd. This marks the first time in 45 years that an Indian Prime Minister will visit Ukraine. Just two days before PM Modi’s visit, Ukraine launched its largest-ever drone attack on Moscow, according to Moscow’s Mayor, Sergei Sobyanin. This escalation adds a significant layer of tension to the Prime Minister’s visit.
The Russian Air Force intercepted and destroyed 10 drones heading towards Moscow. According to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin, some of the drones targeted the city of Podolsk but were also successfully neutralized. Fortunately, there were no casualties reported. This marks the largest drone attack since May 2023, when 8 drones were similarly destroyed in Moscow.
