Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Dharashiv name will remain unchanged
Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar – The Supreme Court dismissed an SLP filed against the Bombay High Court order upholding the Maharashtra Government’s notifications changing the name of Aurangabad and Osmanabad cities to Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Dharashiv, respectively.
The Bench of Justices Hrishikesh Roy and S.V.N Bhatti refused to interfere with the impugned order. The right to change name is given by law. Therefore, there is no point in interfering with it, the Supreme Court observed. Due to this decision of the Supreme Court, now the names of both the districts of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar and Dharashiv will remain unchanged.

This case is still in court – Claim of Mohammad Hisham Usmani’s advocate
The Government had decided to rename Aurangabad as Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar. Against that, the former mayor of the Congress, Mohammad Hisham Osmani, filed a petition in the Bombay High Court. ‘This matter has not yet come to the board. The case has not been heard in the Supreme Court. Because of this, the petition in the name change case was rejected, such fake news is being shown’, claimed advocate S.S. Qazi. “I will not comment on this as the matter is still in the court”, he said while talking to reporters.
