US President Joe Biden withdraws from the presidential race

Washington (USA) – US President Joe Biden has withdrawn from the presidential race for the upcoming US November election. Biden made the announcement last night in a letter posted on his social media account. He emphasized that in the best interest of the Democratic Party and the nation, it is paramount to focus solely on fulfilling his duties as President for the remainder of his term.

The President said he will be speaking to the nation later this week in more detail about his decision. Additionally, President Biden endorsed Vice-President Kamala Harris as the presidential nominee and thanked her for being an extraordinary partner. Opposition candidate Donald Trump has criticized Biden’s decision.

Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump hit out at incumbent US President Joe Biden for ending his re-election bid and claimed that “everybody around Biden, including his doctors, knew that he was not capable of running for or being President. He became President in the last election by lying and campaigning falsely”.

While also criticizing Kamala Harris, Trump said that if the Democrats nominated Kamala Harris, it would be easier to defeat Kamala Harris than Biden.
