Mumbai – By raising slogans of ‘Chalo Vishalgad’, Hindu organisations orchestrated violence at Vishalgad. The dargah and mosque at Vishalgarh were demolished. Houses, shops, vehicles etc. property of Muslims were vandalised and set on fire. Samajwadi Party MLA Rais Shaikh has demanded that the National Commission for Minorities (NCM) should seek a status report on the incident from the state government and ensure strict action against the perpetrators while providing adequate relief to those affected.
Rais Sheikh has said that 4 cases have been registered at Shahuwadi Police Station in Kolhapur against 500 rioters involved in the violence. As the violence took place under the supervision of the District Superintendent of Police, the minority community lost faith in the police and the government. The victims should be compensated within 15 days after seeking a report of this violent incident. Strict action should be taken against the perpetrators of violence. He also demanded a CID inquiry into this incident.
