Ludhiana (Punjab) – Leader of ‘Shiv Sena Punjab’ Sandeep Thapar Gora was attacked and seriously injured in Ludhiana. He is undergoing treatment in a hospital. Four persons wearing Nihang Sikh attire attacked him with sharp weapons. Police are searching for the accused.
Thapar is a relative of Revolutionary Sukhdev. Accompanied by his armed Police bodyguard, he had come to the Civil Hospital for a function. While leaving from there on his bike, 4 Nihang Sikhs came in front of him. Seeing them, Thapar greeted them with folded hands; but the Sikhs hit him hard on the head with swords. (Leaders and people should now decide whether to greet such Sikhs or to be alert – Editor) Due to the sudden attack, Thapar fell down, but the accused kept stabbing him. His bodyguard was surrounded by other Nihangs. He did nothing to save Thapar and stood passively. (Why did the Government and senior Police officials not realise that one Policeman cannot repulse such attacks ? Will the protection of other leaders be increased at least after this incident ? – Editor). At this time, the people present on the street also mutely looked on. (Why do Indians always behave like this in such incidents ? When will the Government study this and find a solution ? – Editor) After being injured in the attack, Thapar was taken to the Civil Hospital; but since his condition was critical, he was taken to a bigger hospital from there.

Attack due to anti-Khalistan statements
The attack on Thapar is believed to be due to his anti-Khalistan statements. He frequently made statements against Khalistan. He had also made statements against the Farmers’ agitation that took place a few years ago. Thapar was being threatened for quite sometime. After this, he had been provided Police protection.
