Withdraw case against VHP leader Sharan Pumpwell : VHP demands

Mangaluru – A Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) delegation in a statement to the Governor demanded that the case against their leader Sharan Pumpwell be withdrawn in connection with warning Muslims on social media against performing namaz on road. District President of VHP H K Purushottam, Province Sahaseva Chief Gopal Kuttar, Ravi Asaigoli, Guruprasad and Navin Moodushedde were present while submitting the statement. VHP has also demanded that the Police officer who was sent on compulsory leave in this case should also be revoked.

The case

The Police registered a case against some Muslim fanatics in Mangaluru city for offering namaz on the public road in front of Kankanady mosque. Police Inspector Somshekhar, who took note of the case himself and registered a case, was immediately sent on compulsory leave. Along with this, a case also has been registered against VHP Chief Sharan Pumpwell, who had warned on social media after the incident, that if namaz was offered again on the road, ‘Bajrang Dal’ would take action.
