
Islamabad (Pakistan) – Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has been appointed as the Deputy Prime Minister of Pakistan. This is the first time since 2012, that a leader has been appointed to the post. Dar’s appointment was made with immediate effect, on the orders of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif. Just last month, Dar was made Foreign Minister.

Ishaq Dar is a senior leader of the ‘Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’ and is considered close to the Nawaz Sharif family. He is a Kashmiri and a Chartered Accountant by profession. He is a four-time former Finance Minister. His appointment comes at a time when Pakistan is in financial crisis and is trying to get a more bailout package from the International Monetary Fund. Dar wants to resume trade with India.
