Aung San Suu Kyi to remain under house arrest

Naypyidaw – Myanmar’s Army has in a sudden move released leader Aung San Suu kyi from prison and confined her under house arrest. It is said that this has been done as she is unwell. Myanmar Army press release states that she will be under house arrest.
Aung San Suu Kyi was sentences to 33 years of rigorous imprisonment
In 2021, the Myanmar Army had overthrown the democratically elected Government of Aung san Suu Kyi and established Military rule in the country. They had arrested Aung San Suu Kyi at that time. The military Court of the Army had found Aung San Suu Kyi guilty for 19 crimes and sentenced her to 33 years of rigorous imprisonment. She has been in prison since that time.
The military reduced Aung San Suu Kyi’s sentence by 6 years
With the emergency situation in Myanmar, the Military has reduced the sentence of the deposed leader and nobel laureate Aung San Suu Kyi, by 6 years. She is now sentenced for 27 years of imprisonment. The head of Myanmar’s ruling military council, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, has ordered the release of 7,749 other prisoners.
