Washington – US President Joe Biden has said that Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu made a mistake in handling the Gaza war. Additionally, Biden has urged the administration to increase aid to the Gaza Strip, intensifying the pressure on Israel to pursue a ceasefire. Consequently, this escalation has widened the gap between the two longstanding allies, the US and Israel.
Joe Biden has been a staunch supporter of Israel’s war against Hamas since the 7th October attack on Israel but in recent weeks, the US administration has adopted a tougher stance toward Israel. This shift has strained relations between the two nations. Disputes over the situation in the southern Gaza city of Rafah have further exacerbated tensions. Moreover, the recent Israeli attack on a food convoy resulting in the death of seven individuals has added to the complexities of the situation.
Israel threatens to attack Iran
Israel’s foreign minister recently issued a stark warning, stating that in the event of an Iranian attack on Israel, the Israeli military would retaliate by targeting Iran directly. This declaration comes in the wake of an airstrike on the Iranian embassy in Syria, resulting in the death of an Iranian general. Consequently, this incident has significantly heightened tensions between Israel and Iran.
