Germany objects to Kejriwal’s arrest; India gives befitting reply

  • India reprimands against interfering in India’s internal affairs
  • Foreign media runs its anti-India agenda

Berlin/New Delhi – Germany has commented on the arrest of Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in connection with the Delhi liquor policy scam. Germany has poked its nose in India’s internal affairs and advocated that Kejriwal should be investigated fairly and impartially. India has vehemently opposed this act by the German Foreign Ministry, denouncing it as an interference in India’s internal affairs. Furthermore, India had summoned Germany’s Deputy Chief of Mission in New Delhi, Georg Enzweiler, in response to this matter. India reprimanded him and conveyed that, “Germany should not interfere in India’s internal affairs. India is a vibrant and robust democracy with the rule of law. As in all legal cases in the country, and elsewhere in the democratic world, law will
take its own course in the instant matter. Biased assumptions made on this account are most unwarranted.”

“We see such remarks as interfering in our judicial process and undermining the independence of our judiciary,” said Indian External Affairs Ministry Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal in a statement.

The German Foreign Ministry had commented, “A prominent political figure of the opposition in India has been arrested just days before the elections. Opponents are seeing it as a political vendetta. The German Government has taken a note of the matter. India is a democratic country. We assume and expect that the standards relating to independence of Judiciary and basic democratic principles will also be applied in this case. Like anyone facing accusations, Mr Kejriwal is entitled to a fair and impartial trial, this includes he can make use of all available legal avenues without restrictions.”

The German Foreign Ministry had also commented that, presumption of innocence until proven guilty is a central element of the rule of law and must apply to the Arvind Kejriwal also.

Anti-India western media supports Kejriwal

1. Washington Post (US): India arrests Delhi Chief Minister as crackdown on opposition spreads.

2. CNN (US): Delhi chief arrested as opposition party alleges ‘huge conspiracy’ ahead of Indian election.

3. BBC (Britain): Arvind Kejriwal: Delhi’s chief minister arrested over corruption claims.

4. Al-Jazeera (Qatar): Under the title ‘Dead democracy’, wrote that after Prime Minister Modi came to power in 2014, 95% of the cases taken up by CBI and ED have been against politicians from the opposition.

Editorial Perspective

Arvind Kejriwal ascended to power under the banner of combating corruption. However, after 13 years, he stands accused of involvement in a scam amounting to Rs 100 crore. Despite this, certain Western countries and media outlets slandering India shows their pure hatred towards India. Such media should be banned in India.
