Thakur’s written appeal to the Archaeological Survey of India
Mathura (Uttar Pradesh) – Katha Vachak Kaushal Kishore Thakur has written to the Archaeological Survey of India requesting a survey of the steps of the Agra Mosque. He claims that the Deity Shrikrushna’s murti, originally installed in the garbhagruha of the Shrikrushna Temple at Mathura, is buried under these steps.
1.On behalf of Kaushal Kishore Thakur, Reena N Singh, advocate in the Supreme Court of India, has written this letter urging the ASI to conduct a proper survey and discover where the Shrikrushna murti was buried. Historical documents, literature, and local legends suggest the presence of sacred murti, known as ‘Bhagwan Keshavdev’. This murti was originally established by King Vrajnabh, a descendant of Deity Shrikrushna, at Mathura.
2.Saint Kaushal Kishore Thakur claims that this murti, along with those of Shrimati Radha Rani and other Hindu Deities, was buried at Agra Mosque. The results of the survey will not only help the Hindu community reclaim the Shrikrushna murti but also shed light on the historical reasons for the burial of these Deities.
3.Previously, in September 2022, advocate Mahendra Pratap Singh filed a petition in the Mathura Civil Court. He demanded excavation under the steps of the Agra Mosque, where the Deity Shrikrushna’s murti was deemed to be buried, and its retrieval.
Editorial Perspective
Many Hindu temples in India were subjected to desecration and conversion into mosques by Muslim invaders. Now, the awakened Hindu community is demanding the restoration of these religious sites. Therefore, the Government should compile a comprehensive list of such sites across India and order their survey. |
