New Delhi – “Those opposing the CAA calling it religion-based, are the same individuals who support laws like the ‘Muslim Personal Law’. Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK) is an integral part of India, and its people, regardless of their religious affiliations, are Indians”, said Union Home Minister Amit Shah while addressing the ‘India Today Conclave’ on Friday.
I fear the return of black money if the Electoral Bond scheme is cancelled
Speaking about the electoral bonds, Shah said, “Eliminating the black money in Indian politics was the intention behind bringing the electoral bonds scheme. Earlier, the Congress party used to receive cash donations. Political leaders on taking Rs 1,100 as a donation, would give Rs 100 to the party and keep Rs 1,000 with themselves. We tried to stop this corruption through the electoral bonds. Everyone is required to accept the Supreme Court’s ruling of scrapping the electoral bonds scheme. I accept the Supreme Court’s ruling in its entirety. But I fear that this will bring back black money. There is a perception that the BJP benefitted from the electoral bonds scheme. The BJP received around Rs 6,000 crore through electoral bonds. The total bonds (of all parties) amounted to Rs 20,000 crore. So where did the rest of the bonds worth Rs 14,000 crore go ?”
