Violence in Gaza unacceptable – India

New York – India has urged Israel to minimise tension in Gaza and stop violence. India’s permanent representative Ruchira Kamboj stated on 4th March at the United Nations General Assembly that India has always opposed all forms of terrorism. She said that it is essential to stop the deaths caused by violence. Respect for international laws must be maintained in every situation. According to the Gaza Health Ministry, more than 30,000 people have been killed in the Israel-Hamas conflict so far. India has provided humanitarian assistance to the people of Palestine and will continue to do so.

1. The President of the General Assembly, Denis Francis, called for an immediate ceasefire and the release of hostages. He said ‘Every death caused by the war is a stain on our collective conscience.’

2. The Deputy Permanent Representative of the United States, Robert Wood, said that there should be an immediate ceasefire for at least 6 weeks.

3. The Vice President of the United States, Kamala Harris, called for an immediate ceasefire.

4. Israel’s Permanent Representative Gilad Erdan called the United Nations a Hamas collaborator. He said that Hamas, which carries out terrorist attacks on Israel, has not been banned by the United Nations.
