Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu) – “India is a subcontinent. What is the reason ? Here, Tamil is one nation and one country. Malayalam is one language, one nation and one country. Oriya is one nation, one language and one country. In Tamil Nadu, there is a culture and in Kerala, there is another culture. Similarly, in Delhi, there is a culture. In Odisha, there is yet another culture. All such national races constitute India. So, India is not a country, it is a subcontinent that has various practices, traditions, and cultures,” said A Raja, DMK MP from Tamil Nadu. A Raja was speaking at a programme organised on 3rd March on the occasion of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Stalin’s birthday.
A Raja further said,
1. In Manipur, dog meat is eaten, which is a cultural aspect. In Kashmir, there is one culture. Every culture has to be recognised. If a community eats beef, recognise it, what is your problem ? Did they ask you to eat ? So, (that is) unity in diversity. We have differences and it has to be acknowledged.
2. The water from the water tank comes to the kitchen as well as to the toilet. We use that water in the kitchen but the water brought from the toilet is not used in the kitchen. What is the reason for this ? This is a psychological problem. Water is the same but why does it matter where it comes from ? We know that this is the kitchen and this is the toilet.
A Raja had previously called Sanatan Dharma AIDS and leprosy
A Raja had said in Chennai on 6th September last year that we often regard leprosy and AIDS with disdain. This (Sanatana Dharma too) should be seen as one such disease. Like AIDS and leprosy, we should eradicate Sanatan Dharma.
Editorial Perspective
India is a subcontinent but there exists a distinct nation called ‘India’ in it. This is what Raja is deliberately trying to deny. If they want to say that India is a subcontinent, then they should talk about and try to create ‘Akhand Bharat.’ |
