Don’t give Taiwan a platform to disseminate false information ! : China

China outraged over Taiwan Foreign Minister giving interview to an Indian news channel

Taiwan’s Foreign Minister Joseph Wu

New Delhi – Taiwan’s Foreign Minister Joseph Wu recently gave an interview to an Indian news channel. China has objected to this. The Chinese Embassy in India stated, “On 29th February 2024, certain Indian TV broadcasted an interview with the head of Taiwan’s foreign affairs office Joseph Wu, which provided platform for him to advocate ‘Taiwan independence’ and disseminate false information.”

The Chinese embassy added, “The ‘one-China’policy means that there is only one China in the world. Taiwan is our part. All countries with diplomatic relations with China must respect our policies. We appeal to the Indian media to take the right stand on the matters related to China’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. Do not give a platform to advocate ‘Taiwan independence’ and disseminate false information. This will have a negative impact on the people of the country and the world.”

Earlier in September 2023, 3 retired Indian Army officers visited Taiwan. China had also objected to it. China advised India not to expand defense partnership with Taiwan.

We are not China’s puppets – Taiwan responds

“Neither India nor Taiwan is part of the PRC (People’s Republic of China) and we are not its puppets. We are both democracies with free and vibrant presses that cannot be dictated to. China should worry about its own economic slump, instead of bullying neighbour countries.”

Editorial Perspective

Taiwan, a small island nation, is bravely confronting expansionist China. China should always remember that India will continue to help Taiwan.
