Five Hindu temples vandalised on the Muslim festival night in Howrah (Bengal)

Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari informs through pictures and videos

Howrah (Bengal) – Five Hindu temples have reportedly been vandalised at Branka in the District. BJP leader and Leader of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari has shared pictures and videos of vandalised temples on his ‘X’ account. In the video, some people wearing caps are seen vandalising the temples. Enraged by this incident, Hindu organisations have demanded to arrest of the miscreants at the earliest.

1. Suvendu Adhikari has written in his post that five Sanatani temples in Bankra have been vandalised by the miscreants last night. Locals are stopping the train traffic. I request Howrah Police Commissioner Praveen Kumar Tripathi and Director General of Police to arrest the culprits at the earliest.

2. In the photographs shared by Suvendu Adhikari, the murtis of the Deities are seen in a broken state. Sandalwood, flowers etc. are haphazardly scattered. People are seen standing on the railway track with saffron flags. These protestors also include women and children. The 1:45 minute-long video shows a group of people wearing caps. They are seen vandalising the temples at night. The incident of vandalism is believed to have taken place during Shab-e-Barat (Muslim festival). Hindus are frequently being targeted due to the indifference of the Bengal Police. Given the tense situation, a large Police force is deployed at this place.

Editorial Perspective

There is no need to specify who vandalised Hindu temples in Bengal. Until and unless the President’s rule is imposed in Bengal, such incidents will continue to happen.
