Alliance between PML-N and PPP in Pakistan

PML-N’s Shahbaz Sharif and PPP’s Asif Ali Zardari

Islamabad (Pakistan) – The past 12 days have been volatile as no party has won a majority in the elections in
Pakistan. Finally, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) have agreed to form a coalition. PML-N’s Shahbaz Sharif will be the Prime Minister and PPP’s Asif Ali Zardari will be the President.

National elections were held in Pakistan on 8th February. It was claimed that there was a big mess in this election.
Interestingly, the group of independent candidates supported by PTI leader Imran Khan, who is banned from
contesting elections, emerged as the largest group in this election. Independent candidates won 93 seats, PML-N 75 and PPP 54.
